Millwall moved to within two points of the Championship Play-Off places with a 1-0 win away to relegation-threatened Reading.
The Lions edged ahead in the 37th minute when defender Jake Cooper nodded home unmarked from a corner.
And although Reading dominated after the interval, Gary Rowett’s side held strong to secure a fifth successive league victory.
Meanwhile, QPR’s own Play-Off hopes took another dent as Cardiff City came from behind to win 2-1 at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium.
Andre Gray gave the Hoops the lead seven minutes before the break but two Cardiff goals in the space of four second-half minutes from Isaak Davies and Rubin Colwill turned the game around.
QPR are now just one win in seven league matches – a run which worryingly includes four defeats.
And in the early Championship kick-off, Fulham moved 11 points clear at the top of the table with a 2-0 victory over promotion rivals Blackburn Rovers.
Both goals came in the first half as Neeskens Kebano and Harry Wilson struck at Craven Cottage.
In League One, AFC Wimbledon’s winless run continued with a 1-0 defeat at promotion-chasing Wigan Athletic.
Will Keane scored the only goal of the game after 21 minutes as the Dons fell to a club record 16th league game without a win.

Elsewhere, Charlton Athletic’s run of five straight defeats ended with a hard-fought goalless draw at home to Sunderland.
In League Two, dominant Sutton United returned to the automatic League Two promotion places with an emphatic 3-0 victory over Rochdale.
Enzio Boldewijn bagged a fine first-half brace before Joe Kizzi’s super strike secured the points.
And finally, Theo Archibald’s stoppage-time equaliser salvaged a point for Leyton Orient in a 2-2 home draw against Stevenage.
Ruel Sotiriou cancelled out Luke Prosser’s header for Stevenage and although Luke Norris restored the visitors’ lead before half-time, Archibald rescued the O’s in the fourth minute of added time.
