Millwall’s defeat to relegation rivals Bolton Wanderers last weekend means they travel to Birmingham City tomorrow evening (kick-off 7:45pm) in desperate need of points.
With an FA Cup Quarter-Final at home to Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday, the Lions will be hoping to open up a gap between them and the drop zone ahead of that weekend clash.
The corresponding fixture at the Den saw Birmingham run out 2-0 winners with the hosts looking to stop Millwall winning a third consecutive St Andrew’s encounter.
And fans will be expecting more of an attacking impetus as manager Neil Harris admitted quality in the final third has ‘certainly been missing in recent weeks’.
Ryan Leonard, who was sent-off against the Blues in that November defeat, or Ryan Tunnicliffe, could come in to replace Shaun Williams who, despite his goal against Norwich City, has frustrated in recent weeks.
If Williams is dropped, vice-captain Shaun Hutchinson could possibly start in place of Alex Pearce given that he, Williams and Steve Morison are Neil Harris’ go-to men for the captaincy.
Elsewhere, James Meredith looks set to continue at left-back despite Harris having the option to play Shane Ferguson there.
Fred Onyedinma, however, is a player unlikely to get a start after being left out of the match day eighteen at the weekend.
Meanwhile, Millwall’s hosts will be hurting after their 1-0 loss to Aston Villa on Sunday which left Garry Monk’s side a point behind their arch rivals and five points outside the play-offs.
Prediction: 2-0 Birmingham City
