Millwall’s relegation fears were compounded with a miserable 2-1 defeat away to fellow Championship strugglers Bolton Wanderers.

Following  a first-half lacking in any real quality, Pawel Olkowski opened the scoring for the hosts three minutes after the interval.

Millwall were nearly immediately level as Jake Cooper saw his effort from a Shane Ferguson corner cleared off the line by Joe Williams.

Gary O’Neil’s sumptuous right-footed strike on the hour mark from a counter-attack then doubled Bolton’s advantage and appeared to put the result out of doubt.

However, after Ben Thompson’s long-range effort was well saved by Bolton stopper Remi Matthews, Lee Gregory set-up a nervy finish by turning a Jed Wallace cross home (87).

But Bolton hung on to record only their second win in 11 games and leave Millwall just a point above the drop zone.
