Sutton United continued their scintillating home form with a comfortable 3-0 win over an inept Crawley Town to edge closer to securing a League Two Play-Off place.
It only took four minutes for the Us to go ahead, Alistair Smith shaking off Tom Nichols before releasing a venomous effort past Glenn Morris following a headed pass from Harry Beautyman.
Three minutes later, set-piece specialist Robert Milsom curled a teasing ball into the area which was met by the right boot of Richie Bennett – again- leaving Crawley keeper Morris with no chance.
The remainder of the half was all Sutton – Will Randall having an opportunity to make it three a minute before the interval but failing to beat Morris with his close-range one-on-one effort.
Sutton continued to dominate after the break with Donovan Wilson brilliantly keeping a long ball alive with a clever header to beat Tony Craig and rounding the goalkeeper only to fail to keep his finish down.
However, Smith grabbed his second five minutes from time with another fierce strike from the left side of the box to seal a comprehensive victory.
