Leyton Orient fell to their first defeat under new boss Richie Wellens with a frustrating 2-0 loss to struggling Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park.

The hosts took the lead in the 33rd minute when Orient defender George Ray headed into his own net, breaking the deadlock after a long period of Oldham dominance.

The O’s continued to struggle and offered very little in terms of an attacking threat with Callum Whelan sealing the result with the final kick of the game, scoring on the break after Orient goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux had gone up for a corner.

The result leaves Leyton Orient in 17th place, 12 points from the drop zone with just seven games of the season remaining.
