QPR made it two straight wins with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Birmingham City at St Andrew’s.
Albert Adomah’s 14th-minute strike got the Hoops off to a perfect start before Chris Willock’s brilliantly-executed effort in the 71st minute sent the visitors into a two-goal lead.
Birmingham substitute Chuks Aneke smashed home to halve the deficit four minutes later but Mark Warburton’s side held on to move up to fifth in the Championship table.
Meanwhile, Millwall lost a five goal thriller – losing 3-2 to Bristol City at Ashton Gate.
Goals from Tom Bradshaw and Benik Afobe, from the penalty spot, put the Lions ahead going into half-time following Andreas Weimann’s early opener for the hosts.
However, Weimann struck a late double to turn the game once more, this time in Bristol City’s favour.
In Saturday’s League One action, Charlton Athletic’s three-game league winning streak at The Valley was ended with a 1-0 defeat to Wycombe Wanderers.
Both goalkeepers were untested until Wycombe went ahead from their first meaningful attack in the 35th minute.
Garath McCleary, who scored both goals in Wycombe’s 2-1 win in the reverse fixture in mid-September, drove inside of George Dobson near the byline before teeing up Sam Vokes for a simple close-range finish.
And finally, Rob Milsom’s dramatic late penalty fired Sutton United into the League Two automatic promotion places as they kicked off 2022 with a 2-1 win over Exeter.
Omar Bugiel’s early opener was quickly cancelled out by Timothy Dieng but Milson kept his cool in the 89th minute to secure a fourth straight home win for Matt Gray’s side.
