Charlton Athletic missed an opportunity to grab another impressive away win as a determined Morecambe fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 at the Mazuma Stadium.
The Addicks came out of the blocks quickly and took a second minute lead as Diallang Jaiyesimi’s shot from the right sneaked past Morecambe keeper Jokull Andresson.
Conor Washington nearly doubled the advantage four minutes later only to drag his effort wide as Morecambe continued to struggle to contend with Charlton’s attacking impetus.
However, the forward didn’t have long to wait for his goal, lifting the ball over the advancing Andresson to make it 2-0 after only 27 minutes.
Morecambe were given a lifeline from the penalty spot two minutes later though, Chris Gunter fouling Cole Stockton, who duly stepped up to convert to halve the deficit.
The second-half saw Morecambe up their game and the Shrimps got their reward when Anthony O’Connor scored in the 72nd minute from an Alfie McCalmont corner.
Both sides had chances to win it at the end but ultimately had to settle for a point which still leaves Charlton undefeated under caretaker boss Johnnie Jackson.
