Brentford fell to a fourth straight Premier League defeat with a disappointing 2-1 loss against strugglers Norwich City.
In a frantic opening, Ivan Toney flicked an effort agonisingly wide before Norwich took a sixth minute lead as Mathias Normann glided through Brentford’s midfield and slot home from range.
The Bees should have equalised minutes later through Christian Norgaard but Norwich keeper Tim Krul’s point range save denied the midfielder.
And the opening 45 minutes would go from bad to worse for Brentford as substitute Charlie Goode brought down Teemu Pukki in the penalty area with the Finn dispatching the resultant penalty to double Norwich’s lead.
Bryan Mbeumo then had the ball in the back of the net just after the interval only for VAR to rule it out for offside.
However, Rico Henry did halve the deficit on the hour mark as Saman Ghoddos’ pinpoint cross found the wing-back at the far post to acrobatically guide the ball home.
But despite Brentford testing Krul a few more times, they would fail to get an elusive second to lose at home for a third consecutive time.
