Leyton Orient were forced to settle for a point in an entertaining 2-2 draw with Newport County at Rodney Parade.
In an end-to-end opening, Newport’s Joe Day produced an incredible double save to deny Aaron Drinan while at the other end Lawrence Vigouroux denied Matty Dolan.
Orient then took the lead in the 34th minute when Harry Smith headed home Theo Archibald’s corner.
Newport’s equaliser came in the second minute of first-half stoppage down when Timmy Abraham was felled in the box and Dolan stepped up to slot home the resultant penalty.
Orient re-took the lead early in the second period when captain Darren Pratley got to the byline and his resultant cross was put on a plate for Smith to power home a header.
And just as it looked as if the O’s would claim a deserved three points, Cameron Norman’s long throw was flicked on by Mickey Demetriou and Dom Telford’s finish ensured it was a point apiece.
