Kenny Jackett suffered his first league defeat as O’s boss as his side lost 2-0 to a spirited Harrogate Town at Brisbane Road.
Orient were dealt an early blow when they fell behind to Luke Armstrong’s eighth minute strike after the visitors capitalised on a mix-up between Darren Pratley and Hector Kyprianou.
The O’s continued to look sluggish throughout the first period and conceded another sloppy goal shortly after the half hour mark.
Goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux could only parry George Thomson’s effort and Armstrong was on hand again to prod home.
Jackett’s side were then handed a lifeline just after the break when Dan Kemp’s volley struck an arm in the box.
Harry Smith stepped up to take the resultant spot-kick but the forward saw his tame effort comfortably saved by Harrogate keeper Mark Oxley.
And the home side continued to huff and puff throughout the final stages but never looked like getting back into the game.

Luke Armstrong – the forward harried the O’s backline all evening and put in a performance that fully merited his two goal haul.

Carl Brook (Sussex) – got the penalty call spot on but put Harry Smith under unnecessary extra pressure by taking an age to book Harrogate’s assistant for his protestations.

The Orient faithful had little to cheer but full credit to the small away contingent who made the journey down to E10.
Verdict
A performance that was all too familiar for the O’s and an incredibly poor showing. Second best in all departments.
