Brentford made it three consecutive league wins with an impressive 2-1 win over promotion rivals AFC Bournemouth at the Brentford Community Stadium.

The visitors nearly scored immediately from kick-off only for Dominic Solanke’s effort to be cleared off the line by Pontus Jansson.

However, Bournemouth did find an opener after 25 minutes courtesy of a brilliant team move which saw Lloyd Kelly whip a delightful ball across the six yard box into Solanke, who clinically finished.

The lead was short-lived though as a Mathias Jensen corner found the head of Henrik Dalsgaard to bring the Bees level on 37 minutes.

And in a second-half devoid of chances, Brentford survived long stretches of Bournemouth possession before finding a winner from an unlikely source.

Substitute Tariqe Fosu heading in an excellent cross from Bryan Mbuemo to secure all three points for the Bees and see them leapfrog Bournemouth into second place in the table.

Man of the Match

Mathias Jensen – pulled the strings in attack, spraying fabulous ball after fabulous ball all over the park, including a great assist from a corner.

Referee Watch

Jarred Gillett (Australia) – nothing particularly bad about his decisions, but hardly had to make any of note and let the game flow.

Atmosphere

A top-six clash between two brilliant sides with some excellent football played – there is no doubt just how much diehard Bees’ fans would’ve loved to be there.

Verdict

A display of resilience, character, and pure quality gave Brentford all three points in a fantastic game of football.
