Brentford and Derby County played out a goalless draw at the Brentford Community Stadium on a frustrating evening for both sides.
The Bees dominated possession without really threatening in the opening period – the only chance of note seeing Vitaly Janelt unleash a 30 yard strike which missed the top left corner by a matter of inches.
The second-half followed suit with a smart corner routine seeing the ball fall to Ivan Toney, whose backheel attempt lacked any real venom to cause Derby keeper David Marshall problems.
Toney then turned provider in the 58th minute, knocking down a long ball into the path of Bryan Mbeumo, only for the Frenchman’s half volley to slam onto the crossbar with the goal at his mercy.
The following 15 minutes saw both sides presented with their best opportunities – Derby’s Kamil Jozwiak drilling an effort through a crowd of bodies but into the post before Josh Dasilva clipped the crossbar from close range.
In the end it finished a point apiece in a match where both sides lacked a distinct cutting edge.

Brentford hit the crossbar twice and both from point blank range – they will quickly need to rediscover their cutting edge if they are to mount another Premier League promotion push this term.
Talking Point

Referee Watch
David Webb (Lancashire) – frustrated both sides by waving away penalty shouts, but was firm in his decisions.

Incredible noise for just 2,000 fans and a capacity stadium would certainly be a sight to behold.
Verdict
This was definitely a case of two points lost rather than one gained for Brentford but on a more positive note, the undefeated run continues.
