Brentford claimed their first Championship win at their new ground, running away comfortable 3-0 winners over Huddersfield Town.

The Bees started the game on the front foot with Bryan Mbuemo’s low effort skewing just wide after eight minutes following good work from Rico Henry.

Ivan Toney also had opportunities to open his Brentford account but an excellent Ben Hamer save and a poor miss from six yards out kept the new frontman off the scoresheet.

Brentford did find the breakthrough on 58 minutes though as Josh Dasilva steered Henry’s low cross goalwards and past the outstretched arm of Hamer.

Huddersfield nearly responded immediately through the head of Juninho Bacuna, but the effort glanced off the wrong side of the post much to Brentford’s relief.

However, substitute Marcus Forss put the game to bed four minutes from time after some brilliant footwork from Bryan Mbuemo, who then added a goal of his own in stoppage time.

Josh Dasilva’s quality finish just before the hour mark gave Brentford a deserved lead they would never relinquish.

Moan of the Match

Brentford were wasteful in front of goal in the opening period, creating numerous stellar chances but failing to capitalise on them.

Talking Point

Said Benrahma is yet to even be named on the team sheet this season – is a transfer for the talented Algerian now inevitable?

Man of the Match

Bryan Mbuemo – looked incredibly positive on the ball as he dazzled with some fancy footwork for his assist and a lovely curled finish for his own goal.

Referee Watch

Craig Pawson (South Yorkshire) – had about as good a performance as a referee can. Made all the right decisions and kept good control of the match.

Atmosphere

Brentford can’t wait to welcome fans back to see their brand new stadium – an experience which will hopefully be soon.

Verdict

Brentford dominated and secured an excellent 3-0 win that could have been even worse for Huddersfield.
