Queens Park Rangers recorded an impressive 2-0 opening day win over Nottingham Forest at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium.
After an opening period of few chances, debutant Lyndon Dykes put the Hoops ahead in the 54th minute, converting a penalty he earned after being brought down by Tobias Figueiredo.
That goal sparked a flurry of chances with Forest’s Ryan Yates seeing an effort hit the crossbar from a tight angle minutes after Dykes’ opener.
Forest continued to search for an equaliser with Lewis Grabban’s strike going over the bar late on after good work from Sammy Ameobi.
But the victory was secured in stoppage time as QPR capitalised on a weary Forest with Ilias Chair scoring with the last touch of the game.

Tim Robinson (West Sussex) – little complaints with the penalty decision as Figueiredo bear hugged Dykes in the box and officiated the game well throughout.

There will be some sore throats in the Nottingham Forest dressing room as the visiting side’s dugout single-handedly tried to compensate for the lack of fans.
Verdict
QPR showed a huge amount of promise against difficult opposition; if they can hold it together at the back they could be set for a tremendous season.
