Queen Park Rangers fell to a disappointing 1-0 defeat away to strugglers Wigan Athletic as the Hoops’ season continued to fizzle out.
Kieffer Moore’s first-half strike was the difference between the two sides, rifling a shot past QPR keeper Joe Lumley having been played in by Sam Morsy.
Moore nearly added a second after the interval, while QPR’s closest attempt was an Ilias Chair shot saved in fine style by David Marshall.
Meanwhile, Millwall’s Play-Off aspirations are all but over after a disappointing 2-0 home defeat to strugglers Middlesbrough.
Britt Assombalonga’s eighth league goal of the season and a late Ashley Fletcher penalty stole Boro a second win under new boss Niel Warnock and a big boost in their bid to avoid the drop.
Fletcher fouled Jake Cooper in the build-up to Assombalonga’s goal however, the 24-year-old clearly clipping the Millwall defender’s heels, before sauntering in on goal and playing in Assombalonga.
In Tuesday evening’s encounters, Brentford continued their pursuit of second-placed West Bromwich Albion with a 2-1 win over Charlton Athletic.
The Addicks led through an eighth-minute goal from Macauley Bonne before Said Benrahma levelled from the penalty spot with Ethan Pinnock heading the winner five minutes from time.
Meanwhile, Fulham also kept up the chase for a top-two finish as Harry Arter hit the only goal of the game to beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 at the City Ground.
Arter let fly from outside the box with a left-foot shot into the top corner, handing the Cottagers their third straight win.
