Brentford maintained their promotion push with a 3-2 victory over Middlesbrough at Griffin Park.
The Bees took the lead in the 24th minute, Julian Jeanvier credited with the goal following a goalmouth scramble.
Lewis Wing and Ashley Fletcher then twice levelled for Boro after Bryan Mbeumo’s deflected effort had put the Bees back in front.
But Ollie Watkins grabbed the winner in the 87th minute, the striker also making it 20 goals for the season.
There was also a vital win for West London rivals Fulham who beat Blackburn Rovers 1-0 at Ewood Park to move level on points with second-placed Leeds United.
Aleksandar Mitrovic struck the only goal of the game, converting Joe Bryan’s cross in the 65th minute.
Elsewhere, Charlton Athletic put in a lacklustre display to lose 3-1 away to fellow Championship strugglers Stoke City.
Ben Purrington cancelled out James McClean’s opener for the Potters before Tom Ince and Nick Powell struck after the break to secure the win.
Meanwhile QPR suffered a third straight league loss with a 2-0 defeat to Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Both of Huddersfield’s goals came within the space of four second-half minutes, with Elias Kachunga scoring the opener and then winning the penalty for the second, which Steve Mounie converted.
In League One, AFC Wimbledon lost 2-1 to Fleetwood Town with substitute Paddy Madden claiming the winner.
Shane McLoughlin had cancelled out Luke O’Neill’s own-goal opener with the result leaving the Dons just six points ahead of the bottom three.
And finally, Leyton Orient were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Macclesfield Town – James Brophy put the O’s ahead before Jacob Blyth levelled in stoppage time.
