Millwall were dumped out of this year’s FA Cup with an insipid 2-0 defeat to Premier League high-flyers Sheffield United at The Den.

The Lions should have taken an early lead but Aiden O’Brien failed to capitalise on a Phil Jagielka error, scuffing his shot straight at Sheffield United keeper Dean Henderson.

That proved the warning the Blades needed and they quickly began to assert their authority on the game with Millwall’s James Brown clearing Billy Sharp’s effort off the line.

However Sheffield United did eventually break the deadlock in the 62nd minute through Mo Besic’s curling effort.

And the victory was sealed by Ollie Norwood in the 84th minute after a fine tee-up from Sharp, as Millwall slipped well off the pace at the end.
