Charlton Athletic and Fulham played out a 0-0 draw to claim a point apiece in a hard-fought encounter lacking any real quality at The Valley.
The opening period set the tone for the encounter with neither side able to find any quality in the final third – Fulham’s best chance falling to Joe Bryan whose driven shot skimmed past the far post.
For Charlton, Ben Purrington saw his inviting cutback intercepted while Josh Cullen’s free-kick was delightfully chipped up but flew over everyone’s head and out for a goal kick.
Fulham arguably should have taken the lead six minutes into the second half, but Michael Hector’s free header from four yards out somehow skewed wide.
At the other end, Alfie Doughty had two good chances for Charlton, but saw his low effort saved and his second blaze over the bar.
Late on, Charlton’s substitutes nearly found a winner as Lyle Taylor’s low cross towards Jonny Williams was intercepted by Cyrus Christie.
The result means Fulham are now just three points behind second-placed Leeds while Charlton move six points clear of the drop zone.
