Charlton Athletic are out of this season’s FA Cup after a 1-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion at The Valley.
With a side already depleted through injuries, a youthful looking Addicks started brightly with both Andre Green and Brendan Wiredu seeing efforts go just wide.
But the more experienced Baggies began to take control and took a 32nd minute lead as Kenneth Zahore played a neat one-two with Kyle Edwards before coolly slotting home.
The second-half saw Charlton’s youngsters continue to compete well with Josh Davison placing a header straight at West Brom keeper Jonathan Bond.
However, the visitors also had chances with West Brom captain Chris Brunt seeing his chip cannon back off the bar and Charlton stopper Dillon Phillips saving well from Charlie Austin.
And although West Brom survived a trio of scares late on as Toby Stevenson, Josh Davison and Tomer Hemed all went close, the Baggies held on for the win.
