Millwall earned bragging rights over London rivals Brentford as Aiden O’Brien’s early goal gave them a 1-0 victory at The Den.
The Bees began the afternoon third in the Championship table, eight points behind Leeds United, but could not cope with Millwall’s fast start as they went behind inside eight minutes.
After Murray Wallace’s goal was ruled offside, Jayson Molumby harassed goalkeeper David Raya into a mistake with O’Brien slotting home for the only goal of the game.

Elsewhere, QPR fell to a 2-1 home defeat to Hull City, despite taking a 20th minute lead through Ilias Chair.
The forward put the Hoops ahead only for goalkeeper Joe Lumley to spill Josh Bowler’s cross just after the half-hour mark to allow George Honeyman to equalise.
And the defensive lapses which have plagued QPR all this season were evident again as Hull’s Jackson Irvine wandered into the box unchallenged to nudge Jarrod Bowen’s free-kick past Lumley late on.
Meanwhile, Fulham moved up to third in the table with a 1-0 win over struggling Stoke City at Craven Cottage.
England goalkeeper Jack Butland was excellent for Stoke but he could only parry Anthony Knockaert’s low shot, with Bobby Reid lurking for a tap-in in the 26th minute to seal victory.
In League One, AFC Wimbledon lost 2-1 to high-flying Oxford United at Kingsmeadow.
A 26th-minute own goal from Dons’ Shane McLoughlin gave the visitors a 26th-minute lead before Joe Pigott hauled Wimbledon level two minutes after the break.
However, midfielder Mark Sykes’ first league goal Oxford just after the hour mark clinched the points to move the side up to second in the table.
And finally, Leyton Orient had to settle for a point with a 1-1 draw away to struggling Newport County.
A first-minute goal by Ruel Sotiriou put Orient ahead before Padraig Amond equalised with eight minutes to go.
