Brentford stormed to the brink of the Play-Off places with an emphatic 7-0 thrashing of Luton Town at Griffin Park.

The Bees bounced back from their disappointing mid-week loss at Blackburn Rovers and led 5-0 at half-time with goals from Bryan Mbeumo, Ollie Watkins, Mathias Jensen and Josh Dasilva’s double.

Said Benrahma made it 6-0 from the penalty spot in the 71st minute before Dasilva completed his hat-trick with another spot-kick in the 87th minute.

Elsewhere, Millwall boss Gary Rowett was denied a winning return to St. Andrew’s as the Lions were held to a 1-1 draw with Birmingham City.

Shaun Williams’ spectacular 30-yard strike in the 61st minute was cancelled out by Jake Clarke-Salter’s header 11 minutes from time.

Meanwhile, QPR’s winless run now stands at seven league games despite claiming a 1-1 draw away at Derby County.

Martyn Waghorn’s free-kick put Derby ahead but the striker then gave away a penalty that Eberechi Eze converted at the end of the first half.

In the day’s early game, injury-hit Charlton Athletic fell to a 3-1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday at The Valley.

Steven Fletcher opened the scoring for the hosts before Macauley Bonne briefly equalised for Charlton.

However, Fletcher’s second and an injury time header from Atdhe Nuhiu sealed all three points for the Owls.

In Friday’s evening’s game, an Aleksandar Mitrovic first-half double helped Fulham to a 2-1 victory at Swansea City.

George Byers scored a second-half header, but it was not enough as Fulham consolidated third place in the table.
