Tom Bradshaw netted for the first time at The Den as managerless Millwall beat promotion chasers Leeds United 2-1.

After an even start, the visitors found themselves down to 10-men in the 14th minute as Gaetano Berardi picked up a straight red for a foul on Bradshaw in the area.

Jed Wallace made no mistake from the resultant spot-kick to score his third goal of the season, firing past Kiko Casilla into the top corner.

Bradshaw then turned scorer for Millwall’s second on the stroke of half-time after superb play from Ben Thompson allowed Shane Ferguson to cross for the former Barnsley man’s neat back heel.

A standing ovation was given at the interval, but Marcelo Bielsa’s side pulled one back less than sixty seconds into the second half as Ezgjan Alioski bundled home from close range.

It set the tone for the second period with the Lions sitting back for long periods but eventually holding on to take all three points and move 15th in the table.

James Linington (Newport) – quite fair overall, although the penalty call and red card for Berardi were contentious decisions.

Verdict

Millwall set up well under caretaker boss Adam Barrett and thoroughly deserved all three points.
