An injury-time winner from Matt Smith gave QPR a 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday on the final day of the Championship season.

Josh Scowen’s 24th minute strike from Darnell Furlong’s cross put the Hoops ahead before Sheffield Wednesday’s Fernando Forestieri blasted a penalty over the bar just before the hour mark.

QPR’s Ebere Eze then followed suit, seeing his 80th-minute penalty well saved by Owls stopper Keiren Westwood before Michael Hector showed how it was done to make it 1-1 with six minutes remaining.

However, there was late drama as Smith’s stunning 93rd minute volley from Massimo Luongo’s deep cross sealed all three points, meaning QPR finished the season in 19th, 11 points above the relegation zone.
