Brentford signed-off their 2018/19 Championship campaign with an impressive 3-0 victory over Preston North End at Griffin Park.
Within minutes of kick-off, the game was immediately halted as Brentford’s Julian Jeanvier suffered a head injury which forced Thomas Frank into an early substitution.
The opening 45 minutes were then further disrupted after a home fan collapsed and needed medical treatment, meaning 13 minutes of stoppage time were awarded at the end of the half.
It was during this period Brentford took the lead as defender Ezri Konsa swept home from Sergi Canos’ ball across the Preston box which the visitors failed to clear.
The Bees then doubled their advantage early in the second period, Neal Maupay turning in his 25th league goal of the season after Canos brilliantly rode a Preston challenge and squared for the striker.
And substitute Marcus Forss fired in a third in the 83rd minute with the youngster’s low strike into the bottom corner from outside the box putting the game out of sight.
Brentford’s 14th home league win of the season means the Bees finish the season in the top half of the table in 11th.
