Charlton Athletic’s 11-game unbeaten run came to an end with a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium.

The Addicks started brightly, taking the lead in the fifth minute through a Lyle Taylor penalty after Joe Aribo had been brought down in the box by Curtis Nelson.

However, the Oxford United defender made amends in the 18th minute, producing a spectacular left-footed volley from a corner to make it 1-1.

Five minutes later Luke Garbutt scored to seal a remarkable turnaround, striking an excellent free-kick over the Charlton wall to leave keeper Dillon Phillips stranded.

Both sides then finished the game with 10 men as Oxford keeper Simon Eastwood (handling outside the area) and Charlton defender Chris Solly (lunge on Jamie Mackie) were dismissed in the second period.
