QPR set to gift Loftus Road naming rights to local charity

QPR have announced they will gift the naming rights of Loftus Road to a local charity next season – and are calling on supporters to help them choose which one.

The club, which first played at Loftus Road more than 100 years ago, want to use the stadium to assist a local organisation which has a close connection with the area and fan base.

Supporters are being asked to submit their nomination for a charity which will be gifted the Loftus Road naming rights from 2019/20 by taking into consideration the following criteria:

  1. Local in nature
  2. Has a strong impact on the community
  3. Would benefit from broader recognition to increase the awareness of their work
  4. Has the appropriate internal infrastructure in place to take advantage of the increased awareness and grow the impact of the charity

On the initiative, QPR CEO Lee Hoos said: “I have spoken with the Supporters Consultation Committee as well as numerous individual fans and floated the idea to them.

“We spoke about how we can use Loftus Road to really help a charity get exposure they would never normally be able to achieve.

“The message that came back was that it had to be a charity that meant something to supporters, and it had to be a local organisation which positively impacts on the community.

“There are so many worthwhile causes out there who do incredible things, so the next question was how we decide which charity to work with.

“Consultation with fans is something that I have always believed in, and so it makes absolute sense to let the supporters make that decision.”

The closing date for nominations is Friday 3rd May.

The club will then draw up a short-list of nominations from the ones submitted and fans will be given the opportunity to vote for their preferred choice.
