AFC Wimbledon were left frustrated as they had to settle for a point with a 1-1 draw against Accrington Stanley at Kingsmeadow.

The Dons took the lead in the 21st minute when Steve Seddon’s cross fell to an unmarked Joe Pigott in the box to fire home.

However, against the run of play Stanley were gifted a 34th minute equaliser – Jordan Clark intercepting Paul Kalambayi’s back-pass to slide the ball past Wimbledon keeper Aaron Ramsdale.

And the visitors could have taken a lead into the interval, winning a 41st minute penalty when Dons midfielder Scott Wagstaff fouled Paul Smyth in the box, only for Billy Kee to put the resultant spot-kick wide.

The second period saw Stanley keeper Dimitar Evtimov make excellent saves from Toby Sibbick and Kalambayi while Sam Finley’s 25-yard strike went narrowly wide at the other end.
