Millwall fell to a narrow 3-2 defeat against promotion chasing Leeds United in a thrilling Elland Road encounter.
The Lions deservedly took the lead in the 10th minute when a Mahlon Romeo cross was met by Ben Thompson’s close range header.
Leeds were then awarded a penalty as Jed Wallace tripped Ezgjan Alioski in the area with Lions’ stopper David Martin saving Patrick Bamford’s resultant spot-kick.
However the equaliser eventually came in the 34th minute as a quick Leeds counter-attack saw Luke Ayling pull the ball back for Pablo Hernandez to lash home.
Ben Marshall then won and converted a penalty after being fouled by Liam Cooper to make it 2-1 early in the second period, prompting the hosts to lay siege to Millwall’s goal.
The pressure eventually told as well – Barry Douglas’ cross met by Ayling to power a header beyond Martin (71) before Hernandez slid in to grab an 83rd minute winner.
The result means Millwall remain a solitary point above the relegation zone but with a game in hand.
