AFC Wimbledon kept their faint League One survival hopes alive with an excellent 2-0 win over Doncaster Rovers at Kingsmeadow.

In a low-key opening period, Rovers’ striker John Marquis headed the best chance of the half onto the bar following a James Coppinger free-kick.

However, the game sparked into life after the interval as Marquis was dismissed for a second bookable offence in the 51st minute.

Sixteen minutes later Steve Seddon opened the scoring for Wimbledon, blasting a left-footed shot past Marko Marosi in the Doncaster goal.

Dons keeper Aaron Ramsdale then denied Coppinger twice before Shane McLoughlin sealed a first league home win since Boxing Day in injury time.

The result leaves AFC Wimbledon bottom but now just seven points from safety while Doncaster remain sixth despite a fifth game without a win.
