Having won just one of their last eight league games, Millwall will be looking to return to winning ways as table-toppers Norwich City visit The Den on Saturday afternoon (Saturday, kick-off 3pm).
Following last weekend’s home loss to Preston North End, the Lions faced Hull in midweek but again started slowly, falling behind early on.
It was another disappointing defensive showing as soft goals were gifted to their opposition, with both Jordan Archer and Shaun Hutchinson below-par.
However, the latter was named in WhoScored’s February Championship Team of the Month after returning to the levels that saw him win last season’s Player of the Year award.
And, with injury worries at full back, it is unlikely the Lions’ vice-captain would be dropped – particularly after netting his first goal since March 2018 in the 2-1 defeat against the Tigers.
Archer, however, has come under heavy criticism of late which could lead to calls for Ben Amos – now back in training – or perhaps even David Martin to start, with the latter having started just once for the club since joining from MK Dons in August 2017.
Elsewhere, Murray Wallace had to be substituted early on at the KCOM Stadium and despite boss Neil Harris comparing his tough nature to assistant manager Dave Livermore, he looks set to miss tomorrow’s game.
Although Ryan Leonard deputised well at right-back in midweek, Mahlon Romeo could be set to return while James Meredith could also be back in contention on the left.
There will certainly be at least one other change as Ben Marshall is ineligible to face his parent club.
Whilst admitting Saturday will be ‘a tough game against a very, very good team’, Steve Morison was drawn to comment about the ticket sales (Norwich have sold more than 3,000 tickets) – which he believes will bring out the best in the side.
And the club captain is right, if the Lions are to get anything from this game, both players and fans will need to be on top form.
Prediction: 3-0 Norwich
