Charlton lost for the first time in six league matches with a 1-0 defeat to Fleetwood Town at Highbury Stadium.
The Addicks had the best opportunity of a lacklustre first-half as Ben Purrington was denied from close-range by a combination of Fleetwood keeper Alex Cairns and forward Ashley Nadesan.
But overall, with top-scorer Lyle Taylor suspended and fellow forward Karlan Grant sold at the end of last month, Lee Bowyer’s side severely lacked a cutting edge in the final third.
That certainly wasn’t the case for Fleetwood though, as forward Ched Evans opened the scoring in the 68th minute after good work from Paddy Madden.
Evans then failed to double the Cod Army’s advantage with keeper Dillon Phillips stranded while Addicks defender Patrick Bauer was dismissed late on for a second bookable offence.
The result sees Charlton drop to fifth, five points adrift of the automatic promotion places, while Fleetwood Town remain tenth.
