Charlton forward Karlan Grant was denied from the penalty spot as the Addicks played out a goalless draw at Peterborough United.
In a game of few chances, the visitors had the best opportunity of the opening 45 minutes when Josh Cullen’s volley was tipped over the bar by Posh keeper Conor O’Malley.
The second-period saw a more open affair with Peterborough’s Matt Godden firing wide when well-placed and Charlton’s Grant seeing a deflected effort hit the bar and bounce to safety.
Then came the big moment of the match as Jason Naismith fouled Cullen in the box with O’Malley comfortably saving Grant’s weak 79th minute spot-kick.
After the game Peterborough, who lie sixth in the table, sacked boss Steve Evans with the club announcing Darren Ferguson as his replacement.
The Addicks meanwhile, who had won three and drawn one of their past four matches, remain fourth and three points off second-placed Portsmouth.
