QPR’s faint play-off hopes were dealt a blow as they were hammered 4-1 by bogey side Preston North End at Loftus Road.
The Hoops have now lost six matches in a row against PNE and found themselves behind after just 14 minutes when Jayden Stockley took advantage of poor QPR defending.
Steve McClaren’s side were lacklustre in the opening 45 minutes and despite a slight improvement in the second period, soon found themselves two-nil down.
Jordan Storey turned Paul Gallagher’s free kick into the top corner on 68 before three goals in five minutes turned a disappointing result into an embarrassing one.
Alan Browne headed in for 3-0 while Brad Potts’ fierce strike bagged Preston’s fourth with substitute Matt Smith pulling a goal back in between.
The result leaves QPR in 13th, seven points off the top six while Preston North End are now ten points clear of the drop zone.
