Brentford recorded an impressive 3-1 win over Stoke City at Griffin Park to extend their unbeaten run to five league games.

The Bees dominated throughout and were in front as early as the seventh minute – a Stoke clearance rebounding off Ryan Shawcross’ head and into his own net.

The hosts then doubled their advantage on 17 minutes when slick build-up play eventually led to Romaine Sawyers’ cross finding Said Benrahma to coolly slot home.

Six minutes later Stoke halved the deficit as Benik Afobe smashed the ball past Brentford keeper Daniel Bentley with the Potters’ first effort on goal.

But the result was never really in doubt and Brentford added a third through left-back Rico Henry’s superb solo effort in the 54th minute.

Brentford also hit the bar through Ollie Watkins and Neal Maupay in an impressive display which moves them up to 17th in the table and eight points clear of the drop zone.
